This photograph was taken in Aldeburgh in Suffolk during a short stay in 2017. I heard the sirens blast out and joined a small crowd to watch as the boat disappeared towards a rescue mission. Thirty minutes later, it returned and the guys hauled it back onto dry land in the same way, centuries ago, that Norsemen once hauled their longboats from the sea.
