Earth is the only planet in our solar system known to harbour life. All of the things we need to survive are provided under a thin layer of atmosphere that separates us from the uninhabitable void of space. Earth is made up of complex, interactive systems that are often unpredictable. Air, water, land, and life (including humans), combine forces to create a
constantly changing world that we are striving to understand. Thankfully, photographs and video keep us close to the action. I try to imagine, rather arrogantly, that some of my images go some way to reminding us that we live in a beautiful world in which we can still observe, preserve and hold in awe. The human race may never reach a point where all peoples live in harmony but at least, we should try to stop destroying our planet so that future generations will not be denied the opportunities we have so often, taken for granted.
